Welcome to BLACK NORYL Week.
In time for Black Week, Plastoplan recommends the versatile NORYL™ black from SABIC, which we have long included in our product portfolio and which has proven itself excellently in many applications. This modified PPE offers a range of impressive properties—from excellent electrical insulation and dimensional stability under heat, water, and moisture to UL94-5VA and 5VA flame retardant ratings, as well as a UL Outdoor Listing UL746C f1. Furthermore, its black color makes it ideal for high-visibility components, not just in outdoor applications.
A proven plastic with many excellent properties—unique and versatile!
NORYL mod. PPE has many excellent properties, largely due to its very low moisture absorption:
- Excellent hydrolytic stability
- Long-lasting dimensional stability—even at high temperatures, in water, and in humid conditions
- Retention of mechanical properties even in challenging environments
- Very low density
- Low warping due to the amorphous structure
- Excellent low creep behavior
- Excellent electrical insulation properties due to high dielectric strength
- Good impact resistance, tensile strength, and flexural strength
- Flame-retardant types are bromine- and chlorine-free
- High temperature resistance
This combination of properties is what makes NORYL™sogreat! But be aware: Light-colored grades may discolor when exposed to UV light, so we recommend using black NORYL™ for visible parts that will be exposed to UV light.
Important to know: The material’s excellent thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties remain unchanged despite visual changes to the surface after weathering. However, products in black simply stay looking good longer.
