Plastoplan
more than 50 years of expertise in plastics trading
The foundation for Plastoplan was laid in Vienna in 1971 when Hans Wolfgang Hromatka established a market research company. Just one year later, a pivotal opportunity arose: the American corporation General Electric Plastics was seeking a distribution partner via newspaper advertisement for the market entry of its engineering plastics NORYLTM (PPE granules) and LEXANTM (PC granules) in Austria.
Mr. Hromatka applied and was awarded the contract. This marked the beginning of the success story of Plastoplan, a plastics trading company that has now existed for over five decades.
From the outset, customer needs have been paramount. Warehouse logistics, technical consulting, and application engineering support were continuously expanded, alongside the supply portfolio of high-quality plastics.
In 1991, Mr. Hromatka initiated expansion into the then Czechoslovakia. This was followed in 1993 by the acquisition of Swiss Lenorplastics, a significant milestone in the development of today's Hromatka Group. Since 2005, SAX Polymers, the Group's own compounding company, has also been part of the Group, complementing its offerings with customized plastic solutions.
Today, the family-managed Hromatka Group operates in 19 European countries with over 40 warehouses, and since 2025, it has also established its first non-European branch in Morocco. Each national subsidiary operates independently, close to the market and the specific requirements of its customers.
For over 50 years, Plastoplan Kunststoffe has stood for reliability, technical expertise, and collaborative partnerships – strengthened for the future by the international network of the Hromatka Group.
