PEI (Polyetherimide) is a high-temperature resistant amorphous plastic with an inherent amber transparent color. The material meets the highest demands for temperature resistance (continuous service temperatures possible from 170°C, depending on application and type) and is inherently flame-retardant due to its chemical composition, without the need for additional flame retardant additives, while simultaneously exhibiting very low smoke development. It possesses very high strength, which can be further enhanced by the addition of glass fibers or carbon fibers. The exceptionally high dimensional stability and low creep tendency complete the broad property profile of Polyetherimide. All these properties make the material an ideal candidate for the automotive and aerospace industries. This thermoplastic is also frequently used in the communications sector and medical technology.
