Welcome to BLACK NORYL Week.
Coinciding with Black Week, Plastoplan recommends SABIC's versatile NORYL™ black, a product we have long featured in our portfolio and which has proven highly effective in numerous applications. This modified PPE offers a multitude of compelling properties, ranging from excellent electrical insulation characteristics and dimensional stability in the presence of heat, water, and humidity, to UL94-5VA or 5VA flame retardancy classification and a UL Outdoor Listing UL746C f1. Furthermore, its black color makes it ideally suited for demanding aesthetic components, not exclusively for exterior applications.

Proven Plastic with Many Excellent Properties – Unique and Versatile!
NORYL modified PPE possesses numerous excellent properties, largely attributable to its very low moisture absorption:
- Excellent Hydrolytic Stability
- Permanent Dimensional Stability – even at high temperatures, in water, and humidity
- Retention of Mechanical Properties even in Challenging Environments
- Very Low Specific Gravity
- Low Warpage due to Amorphous Structure
- Excellent, Low Creep Behavior
- Excellent Electrical Insulation Properties due to High Dielectric Strength
- Good Impact Strength, Tensile Strength, and Flexural Strength
- Flame-Retardant Grades are Bromine- and Chlorine-Free
- High Temperature Resistance
This combination of properties makes NORYL™ so outstanding! However, caution is advised: under UV exposure, light colors may experience discoloration. Therefore, for visible parts exposed to UV, we recommend using NORYL in black.
It is important to note that despite visual changes to the surface after weathering, the material's excellent thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties remain unchanged. Nevertheless, products in black simply retain their aesthetic appeal longer.
