For safety in the drinking water and sanitation industries: EVONIK’s Trogamid®reliably withstands dynamic pressure fluctuations.
In the drinking water sector, filter bells are among the safety-critical components of many water filtration systems. They are under constant pressure and must function reliably for many years. Material failure can cause significant water damage, which—especially in systems installed in basements—is often not noticed until it is too late. This makes it all the more important to select a material that retains its properties over the long term, even under demanding operating conditions.
With Trogamid®CX7323 from Evonik, Plastoplan Kunststoffe offers a transparent, microcrystalline PA12 that was specifically developed for applications involving high dynamic pressure cycling. This high-performance plastic is therefore particularly well-suited for filter bells, filter housings, and many other pressure-loaded components in the plumbing and drinking water sectors.
Compared to amorphous PA12 materials,Trogamid®CX7323 exhibits higher ductility and a microcrystalline structure that effectively counteracts the formation of stress cracks. In addition, the material offers high chemical resistance as well as excellent UV and weather resistance.
Independent tests confirm thatTrogamid®CX7323 achieves a significantly higher number of load cycles to failure under dynamic pressure cycling from 0 to 38 bar than comparable amorphous PA12 materials. As a result , the material offers a particularly high level of safety for components that must function reliably for ten years or longer.
Trogamid®CX7323 has all the relevant approvals for applications involving contact with drinking water in accordance with KTW-BWGL, DIN EN 16421, WRAS, and ACS. It also meets the requirements of the DWD (Drinking Water Directive), a Europe-wide standard that will take effect next year. The material thus already offers long-term planning reliability and is available immediately from Plastoplan Kunststoffe and throughout the Hromatka Group.
