DuraSense® is now available from Plastoplan – a sustainable wood-plastic composite from Nordic forests

Plastoplan is expanding its product portfolio and is now offering DuraSense®, an innovative composite material made from FSC-certified wood fibers from Nordic spruce and modern polymers. The material combines the natural look and feel of wood with the technical properties of high-quality plastics, creating a sustainable alternative to fossil-based materials.

Depending on the type, DuraSense® consists of 20 to 55% wood fibers as well as bio-based, recycled, or conventional polymers (PP or PE).
This makes it possible to replace fossil-based plastics and significantly reduce CO₂ emissions.

Versatile

DuraSense® has already proven itself in numerous applications:

  • Seat shells for designer armchairs

  • Water Dispenser

  • Safety Helmets

  • Toy building blocks

  • Cutlery and Tableware

  • Packaging for the Food and Pharmaceutical Industries

  • Automotive Interior Parts

  • Construction Products

  • 3D Printing

The Right Material Grade for Every Application

DuraSense® is available in three product lines:

Pure – with a minimal amount of additives for particularly natural applications
Plus – with increased flexibility and improved impact resistance
Prime – High-performance material for demanding technical components

The material is available for injection molding, extrusion, and 3D printing. Depending on the product design, you can choose between a natural surface with visible wood fibers or a surface uniformly colored using a masterbatch.

Sustainable and cost-effective

  • up to 98% bio-based content

  • up to 55% FSC-certified wood fibers

  • significant reduction in CO₂ emissions

  • fully recyclable

  • free of BPA and phthalates

  • lightweight yet high-strength

  • good workability

  • Compatible with existing tools and machines (drop-in solution)

Independently verified life cycle assessments (LCA) are available for all material types.
