Sustainability Integrated
KRAIBURG TPE aims to offer customized solutions that not only meet customer needs but also contribute to a more sustainable future, for instance, by reducing primary raw materials. For this reason, THERMOLAST® R was developed – a range of thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) whose development focuses on the sustainable use of recycled and/or secondary raw materials, and which are in no way inferior to their virgin counterparts in terms of performance characteristics.
THERMOLAST® R products represent another valuable component in our sustainable plastics portfolio, designed to enhance customer projects while simultaneously minimizing environmental impact.

Why THERMOLAST® R from KRAIBURG TPE?
Focus on Circular Economy: KRAIBURG TPE and Plastoplan Plastics are aware of the importance of the circular economy in today's world. TPE compounds can be produced with over 70% post-consumer and/or post-industrial recycled content (PCR/PIR) or up to 71% bio-based raw materials, thereby adhering to the principles of the circular economy.
Certified Sustainability: With certifications from the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS program (mass balance), customers can trust that KRAIBURG TPE's materials meet the highest sustainability standards.
Transparent Decisions: Since 2022, KRAIBURG TPE has been able to provide its customers with comprehensive information regarding the CO2e footprint (Product Carbon Footprint, PCF) of most TPE compounds. The PCF quantifies the CO2e footprint using cradle-to-gate system boundaries, thereby assisting customers in making informed purchasing decisions.
Diverse Applications: From the food and medical industries, leveraging the mass balance approach within the various THERMOLAST® product lines, to consumer, industrial, and automotive applications, THERMOLAST® R Compounds offer versatility and reliability. THERMOLAST® products are engineered to meet the stringent requirements of diverse market segments.
An overview of readily available solutions:
Recycled Content TPE: Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) with recycled content derived from post-industrial and/or post-consumer waste streams, covering a hardness range from low ShA to high ShD. Available with adhesion to PP, ABS/PC, or PA.
Recycling Content TPE for Automotive has been specifically developed to meet the needs and requirements of the automotive segment. These products contain up to 77% recyclates and are designed for a wide range of technical applications. All components derived from recycled raw materials have been meticulously researched and developed without compromising the performance demanded by OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
Bio-based TPE: Compounds that contain a variable proportion of renewable raw materials, ranging in many cases from 40% to 60% and currently up to a maximum of 71%. In addition, bio-based TPEs have a lower PCF than conventional alternatives that do not rely on renewable raw materials.
